
Eva Lewis

Bio: Eva Lewis is a painter currently residing in her home town of Dayton, Ohio. She attended Wright State University for her BFA in painting with a minor in Art History, graduating in 2017. She did a summer residency at Mount Gretna School of Art, participated as a fellow at the Dayton Art Institute, and began teaching art in Catholic Schools. In 2020 Lewis began graduate school at Boston University, formed many friendships, new understandings of life and paintings, and graduated in 2022 alongside her first solo show with the Laisun Keane Gallery. Moving back to Ohio, she began teaching again. Currently Lewis is teaching at Archbishop Alter High School, and at a local arts center, Rosewood Arts Center. She continues painting at her home studio, inspired by the Midwestern landscape, friendship, and the color red.
Artist Statement: My work focuses on my own experiences manipulated with color and composition. Taking a close look at moments with friends, animals, and nature. Cropping in on details part of a bigger story, asking for the viewer to understand their own narrative through subject and light.
