Bil Tipton is a multidisciplinary artist, curator, and community organizer based in Dayton, Ohio. Working under Bil Tipton Art, his practice spans painting, fabrication, and collaborative projects rooted in skateboarding, DIY culture, and community-driven art.
With over 20 years of hands-on experience in construction, custom framing, and creative production, Tipton brings a deep, working knowledge of how to take ideas from concept to completion. His background allows him to move fluidly between disciplines, creating original work while also building the physical and logistical framework that supports exhibitions and events.
Tipton is known for organizing grassroots art shows and fundraisers that directly support local artists and DIY skateparks. He has built a reputation for bringing people together, connecting artists, small businesses, and community members through projects that create real, tangible impact.
His work balances raw, independent energy with thoughtful execution, resulting in experiences that feel both accessible and culturally relevant. Whether producing original artwork, fabricating custom pieces, or curating group shows, his focus remains consistent: building momentum, strengthening community, and creating opportunities for others.
At its core, Tipton’s practice is about building culture from the ground up.

My work comes from a hands-on, self-taught background rooted in skateboarding, DIY culture, and years of building things with my hands. I’m interested in the intersection of physical labor and creative expression, where construction, fabrication, and art overlap.
Process plays a major role in how I approach my work. Cutting, assembling, layering, and reworking materials is just as important as the finished piece. I’m drawn to work that carries that history, where the decisions, adjustments, and imperfections remain visible.
Beyond the work itself, I focus on creating opportunities for others through organizing shows, fundraisers, and collaborative projects. I see these efforts as an extension of my practice, bringing people together and building momentum within the community.
I don’t separate art from everyday life. The same mindset I bring to problem-solving, building, and working with my hands carries directly into my creative work. It’s all part of the same process.
